Frequently asked questions about security

Are you considering hiring professional security staff, or would you like to know more about how security works in practice? Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about security services, costs, deployment and working methods. AE Security operates in Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Almere and the wider Randstad region.

Costs and deployment of security

How much does it cost to hire a security guard?

The cost of hiring a security guard varies depending on the type of service, the duration of the assignment and the time of day. For object security AE Security typically charges hourly rates per security guard, depending on the specific requirements and the type of contract. Temporary or short-term assignments are slightly more expensive than long-term partnerships. For event security, separate rate agreements apply based on the number of security guards required and the duration of the event. A no-obligation quote always provides the most accurate indication for your situation.

How quickly can security be deployed?

In most cases, AE Security can be up and running within 24 hours. In urgent situations — such as a break-in, a sudden increase in risk or an unexpected vacancy — we aim to deploy staff on the same day. For long-term security assignments, we first carry out a risk analysis and an initial assessment, which usually takes two to three working days. The actual security provision then begins. Please contact Call 085 060 1155 for an immediate assessment of the options.

Is it possible to arrange temporary security for a short period?

Yes, temporary security is one of the most sought-after services from AE Security. Services can be provided for periods ranging from one day to several months. Common situations include vacant properties, construction sites between phases, renovations where a property is temporarily unoccupied, peak periods around events or public holidays, and temporarily increased risks following an incident. No long-term contract is required for temporary assignments.

In which regions does AE Security operate?

AE Security specialises in security services in the Randstad. We operate on a regular basis in Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Almere and Rotterdam, and carry out assignments throughout the provinces of North Holland, South Holland and Flevoland. Thanks to our regional presence, we can scale up quickly and are also available for urgent assignments outside office hours. Our head office is based in Amsterdam.

Services and approach

What security services does AE Security offer?

AE Security provides a wide range of security services, including property security for commercial premises and offices, construction site security and site supervision, shop security and retail security, healthcare security for hospitals and care facilities, event security, museum security, hotel security and personal security. All services are tailored to your needs based on a prior risk assessment. Combinations of static security and mobile surveillance are available as standard.

What is the difference between fixed security and mobile surveillance?

With static security, a certified security guard is present at your premises at all times. This is the ideal choice for premises with a constant or high-risk profile, such as hospitals, construction sites with expensive equipment, or offices containing sensitive information. Mobile surveillance consists of unannounced patrols at varying times by a security guard in a surveillance vehicle. This is a cost-effective addition for lower-risk situations or as an extra layer on top of CCTV systems. In many situations, AE Security combines both forms for optimal coverage.

How is security tailored to my specific situation?

At AE Security, every security plan begins with a thorough assessment and risk analysis of your premises, organisation and risk profile. We identify the access points, opening hours, previous incidents and specific vulnerabilities. Based on this, we draw up a bespoke security plan with specific instructions for our security guards. This plan is reviewed periodically and updated as the situation changes.

Is security also available outside office hours, at night and at weekends?

Yes. AE Security provides security services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In fact, the majority of security assignments take place outside regular working hours, when premises are unattended and the risk of burglary, vandalism or unauthorised access is at its highest. AE Security also has sufficient certified staff available for night patrols, weekend security and public holiday security.

Quality and reliability

What certifications does AE Security hold, and do you comply with Dutch legislation?

AE Security Group holds all the necessary licences and certifications for private security in the Netherlands. All security guards hold a valid security qualification in accordance with the Private Security Organisations and Investigation Agencies Act (Wpbr) and possess a valid police ID. In addition, AE Security is certified and the organisation complies with the requirements of the Collective Labour Agreement for Private Security. Annual compliance audits are successfully completed.

What is the difference between a security company and a security guard company?

In practice, the terms ‘security company’ and ‘surveillance company’ are often used interchangeably, but there is a substantive difference between them. Surveillance generally refers to the passive observation and monitoring of a site, such as CCTV surveillance or regular patrols. Security, on the other hand, also encompasses active intervention, access control, incident management and the deployment of certified security guards with the authority to make arrests. AE Security provides fully certified security services in the broadest sense of the word, not just passive surveillance.

How do AE Security guards respond in the event of an incident or emergency?

All AE Security security guards are trained in incident management and act in accordance with established protocols that are agreed in advance with the client. In the event of an incident, immediate action is taken to prevent escalation, the emergency services are called in if necessary, and the client is informed straight away. Every incident is recorded in writing in an incident report. In the event of aggression in the workplace, our security guards have received additional training in de-escalation techniques and first aid.
